Chinese Culture Summer Camp

The Chinese Culture Summer Camp was launched by the CICA in 2013, along with 14 children's centers and registered non-profit youth activity centers around China. The project aims to promote cultural exchanges among youngsters of different nationalities. The camp started during winter and summer vacations and public holidays, providing opportunities for international youths to learn more about Chinese culture.


The host center caters to different demands and provides cultural classes with distinct local character, including Chinese language, Chinese calligraphy and painting, music, dance and martial arts. Activities also include visits to places of natural and cultural interest, providing a unique learning experience.



The camp has hosted hundreds of children from a variety of countries, including France, Japan, Germany and Egypt. The project organized 15 kinds of theme activities, featuring Peking opera, chess, calligraphy, painting, martial arts, folk music and Chinese medicine, among other subjects.

Theme Activities

Chinese classics-The activity helps children get to know Chinese language, broaden their horizons and enhance their ability to express ideas.


Ceramic art-Children learn about Chinese ceramics and its long history from the activity, which helps the youngsters to observe the world and promote their creativity.


Tea ceremony-The activity lets children experience traditional Chinese moral standards through procedures of tea making.


Calligraphy and painting-Young people learn about history and celebrated Chinese calligraphers and painters.


Peking opera-The activity shows the most representative traditional Chinese art to children through a series of performances.


Go- A traditional Chinese game with thousands of years of history, go is still popular around the world. Children enjoy playing and discovering more about the game's philosophy.


Martial arts- An important part of traditional Chinese culture. The activity promotes children's physical health and discipline.


Folk music- The activity features a series of instruments, with instructions and performances to share the beauty of Chinese folk music.


Chinese medicine- Through letting children know theories behind traditional Chinese medicine, the activity can help young people live a more healthy life.


Ethnic art- The activity aims to let children know more about traditional ethnic culture, especially intangible cultural heritage.



5000 years of civilization-The history of Chinese civilization was presented to children in vivid way, which helps youngsters learn more quickly.


Festival cuisine-The activity introduces delicacies enjoyed during traditional Chinese festivals to provide even taste buds with an experience of Chinese culture.


Folklore experience-As a country with diverse folk cultures, China can give children a variety of experiences through the activity.


Scripture Cabinet-The collection of classic texts is a good way to know about Chinese culture. The activity not only introduces texts to children, but also lets them experience how ancient Chinese people attended school and learned.
